It’s Mother’s Day this weekend.. This is my 2nd Mother’s day and my mum’s 33rd one. Putting this in perspective suddenly makes me feels like my motherhood journey has only just begun. And it’s true, this journey is a lifelong one, with many more beautiful memories and life experiences to come.

I came across this quote about motherhood which I find to be very true

When you’re a child she walks before you…
…To set an example.
When you’re a teenager she walks behind you….
….To be there should you need her.
When you’re an adult she walks beside you….
….So that as two friends you can enjoy life together..

Indeed, my mum has walked before me, behind me and now beside me as a most wonderful friend and she has always been there for me throughout my life.

Someone once asked me – who inspires you in your life? My answer was my mother.

My Mum, My Inspiration

My mum is a loving, courageous and amazing lady and she’s a source of sunshine in my life.

Whenever I feel down, talking to her is a miraculous medicine. She never fails to cheer me up with her positive mind set and infectious laughter. She always says in Chinese “Whether you are happy or not happy, life still goes on, so why not choose to spend it happily?”

Seeing how she always takes things positively, reminds me to live my life happily and be grateful for everything I have.

To my mummy: Thank you for walking with me all these years, for always being there for me and giving me your blessings to pursue my dreams. You have brought joy and love to my life :)

Who I want to be

And this is who I aspire to be, a woman who lives with joy and gratitude, who has the zest and passion for life and the courage and determination to pursue my dreams.

One of my passion is to empower women and mothers financially, so they can enjoy a bright financial future for themselves and their loved ones. And I am grateful that I get to help many women through my work as a financial planner and through workshops like $mart Women Retire in Style.

It’s my hope that by living my life with  joy, passion and courage, I can  be a role model for my children and pass on these values to them. And as a mum, I’ll be there to guide them, support them and to enjoy life with them as a friend when they grow up :)
